An east to northeaterly airflow lies over the country today, high cloud increasing for many. Northeasterlies winds about the upper North Island becoming strong with gales in exposed areas Auckland northwards. Rain for Northland becomes heavy during the day, especially in the east.

Patchy drizzle then rain from late morning, rain becoming heavy at times from late afternoon especially in the east. Strong to gale easterly winds.

Auckland

Cloudy with strong easterlies, gusting to gale force at times from midday
(especially eastern coastal areas). Patchy drizzle then some afternoon
rain.
Highs: 15

Bay Of Plenty

Cloudy with freshening easterly winds, patchy drizzle possible, mainly in
the west of the region.
Highs: 14-15

Waikato & Central North Island

Increasing high cloud, easterly winds freshen from afternoon. Drizzle
patches from evening about the Waikato.
Highs: 12-14

Eastern North Island

Mostly cloudy with easterly winds, overnight drizzle.
Highs: 14

Western North Island

Areas of increasing high cloud with easterly winds, fresh about Taranaki.
Some rain possible about northern Taranaki overnight.
Highs: 13-14

Wellington

Thick high cloud with easterly winds.
High: 12

Nelson

Plenty of high cloud with east to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-14

Marlborough

Plenty of high cloud with east to southeasterly winds.
High: 13

Canterbury

Plenty of high cloud with northeasterly winds, cloud may be thicker and
lower nearer the coast.
High: 11

West Coast

High cloud with easterly winds.
High: 15

Southland & Otago

Sunny areas and some increasing high cloud, light northeasterly winds.
About coastal Otago northeasterlies a little breezy at times with cloud more
frequent.
Highs: 8-10
