Here’s what is making the weather headlines today….
RAIN OUTLOOK
The next seven days are looking a bit drier than average for some, average for others. Only the southwestern corner of the South Island sees higher than average rainfall.
We have two main fronts to contend with, a cold front later today in the far south then much Wednesday as it moves northwards. Conditions will gradually wind down over Thursday and Friday. Another cold front moves northwards on Sunday 16th July.
The map below runs from today through to Tuesday 18th July. Blue colouring means that part of the country is likely to see more rainfall than would normally be expected at this time of year, red means less rainfall is expected and white is an average amount of rainfall. The more intense either red or blue then either scenario is more true.
HEAVY RAIN FOR FIORDLAND THIS EVENING
A cold front moves onto the lower South Island this evening, this will mainly show with rain moving into Fiordland then moving northwards overnight. Rain may be heavy, mainly for Fiordland.
Rain moves into Southland and Otago overnight also.
