A cold west to southwesterly airflow lies over the country tonight, showers ease in many western regions this evening however picking up again overnight. Mainly dry for eastern regions although the eastern North Island sees a few showers move through this evening. Later in the night ahowers push into Cantebury.

Auckland & Northland
Showers, heavy at times with a risk of hail easing this evening and mostly clearing. The odd shower may remain in western areas. Showers becoming a little more widespread overnight again.

Bay Of Plenty

Heavy showers with a risk of hail then clearing mid to late evening, breezy
westerlies. Mainly clear skies overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 8

Waikato & Central North Island

Showers, some heavy with small hail at times too then clearing mid evening.
Showers with small hail move in again overnight into western parts of these
regions. Westerlies.
Tonight’s Lows: 4-6

Eastern North Island

Cloudy with a few evening showers then clearing before midnight, west to
northwest winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 5-7

Western North Island

Areas of cloud decreasing mid to late evening, WNW winds. Showers (possibly
heavy) with a chance of hail move in again overnight as west to northwesterly
winds freshen.
Tonight’s Lows: 6-7

Wellington

Areas of high cloud clearing away later this evening, west to northwest
winds.
Tonight’s Low: 7

Marlborough & Nelson

Areas of high cloud clearing away this evening about Marlborough, mainly
clear skies elsewhers. West to southwest winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 1-2

Canterbury

Clear areas and some developing high cloud this evening, light winds. A few
showers developing overnight as southwesterlies freshen. Showers may bring some
small hail.
Tonight’s Lows: 0-1

West Coast

Showers, heavy at times with hail. Southwesterlies freshen.
Tonight’s Lows: 2-3

Coastal Otago

A few showers with light winds, chance of small hail at times and snow
flurries to 600m. Southwesterlies freshen a little overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 2

Central Otago

A few showers with light winds, chance of small hail at times and snow
flurries to 500m then clearing overnight for a time. Winds tend more southerly
towards dawn tomorrow with showers moving in again with snow to 500m
again.
Tonight’s Low: -3

Southland

Showers with westerly winds, small hail at times and snow flurries to 500m
then clearing overnight for a time. Winds tend more southerly towards dawn
tomorrow with showers moving in again with snow to 500m again.
