A deep low to the east of New Zealand is bringing gales to many eastern regions tonight aswell as heavy rain. For more detail about your area check out the forecasts below.

Auckland & Northland
Areas of cloud with brisk southwesterlies, the odd shower at times.
Tonight’s Lows: 13-16

Central North Island, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Mainly clear skies with brisk west to southwest winds, occasional showers about southern parts of the Central North Island. Some cloud about northern
Waikato with a shower or two there overnight too.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-13

Eastern North Island

Rain (possibly heavy) developing about the Wairarapa this evening with
strong to gale southwesterly winds, brisk westerlies further north with areas of
cloud. A few showers push into Hawkes Bay overnight as winds change
southwest.
Tonight’s Lows: 10-12

Western North Island

Occasional rain or showers with breezy west to southwest winds south of
Taranaki. Mainly clear skies about northern Taranaki however with brisk to
strong southwesterly winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 10-12

Wellington

Showers turning to rain this evening with strong southwesterlies rising to
gale force overnight from the south. Rain may be heavy at times, more so in the
east.
Tonight’s Low: 10

Nelson

Mainly clear skies with brisk southwesterly winds, easing a little
overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 10-11

Marlborough

Cloudy areas breaking up overnight north of the Wairau Valley, however not
before the chance of a few showers moving through this evening. Expect rain
about southern Marlborough with heavy falls possible on the coast especially
about the Kaikoura area. Strong southwesterly winds, gale force about the
Kaikoura coast.
Tonight’s Low: 8

Canterbury

Rain, heavy about Rakaia northwards. Rain especially heavy about Banks
Peninsula, Christchurch and parts of North Canterbury. Watch for flooding
overnight about low lying areas. Winds will be strong from the southwest, gale
force nearer the coast with severe gales at times especially on the
Peninsula.

West Coast

Mainly clear skies with southwesterlies tending southeast overnight.

Coastal Otago

Occasional showers with strong southwesterly winds, perhaps gusting to gale
force at times. Winds ease a little overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 8-9

Central Otago

Fairly cloudy in the south and east of the district with the chance of a
shower, clearer skies in the west and north. Brisk south to southwesterly winds
ease a little overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 3-5

Southland

Mostly cloudy with the odd shower, southerly breezes.
Tonight’s Low: 7
