Toxic sea slugs spread

> From the WeatherWatch archives

More toxic sea slugs are being reported across Auckland’s eastern beaches from Okahu Bay to Kohimarama.

It’s prompting Auckland City Council to erect more signs and again caution beach-goers to supervise their children and pets.

The sea slugs generally appear at low tide and yesterday there was an extremely low tide.

The council wants any sightings reported immediately.

People should either collect it in a plastic bag, being careful not to touch it and washing their hands thoroughly afterwards – or mark it and call the council.
