First thing this morning showers for the North Island may be heavy with small hail for most regions but then quickly easing before midday.
A few heavy coastal showers with hail for the coastal fringe of the eastern North Island will start to pull back from this afternoon.
Most showers for the North Island will have cleared by this evening, the odd one could move into western coastal areas overnight north of Taranaki.
The South Island is dry from the get go for most, showers about Banks Peninsula and the far south clear this afternoon.

There is a bit of rough weather to go this weekend with a front moving in from the Tasman Sea, heavy rain for the West Coast, top of the South Island and North Island looks to be a possibility. Conditions start to clear / ease up on Monday then on Tuesday a high pressure system moves in and gives us all what looks to be a settled day.
