A northerly airflow lies over the South Island and lower North Island today, a ridge of high pressure further north. The weather is mainly settled apart from rain or showers for the West Coast. Eastern regions will be warm.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud, morning fog possible for some inland areas. Mainly dry, there could be a shower in the far north. Light winds come in from the east or northeast.
Highs: 15-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud, chance of a shower about Taranaki and Kapiti. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 11-16

Eastern North Island

A cold start then mostly sunny, light winds tend northeast for Hawkes Bay and Gisborne in the afternoon. Northwesterlies all day for Wairarapa.
High: 17

Wellington

Partly cloudy, chance of a shower in the north. Breezy northwesterlies, strong through Cook Strait.
High: 15

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny for Marlborough, a mix of sun and cloud for Nelson. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-19

Canterbury

Sun and some high cloud, a few spits in the high country close to the Main Divide. Northerly winds.
Highs: 16-20

West Coast

Cloudy with showers, rain with a chance of heavy falls south of Westport through to about Haast. Northerly winds.
Highs: 13-14

Southland & Otago
A mix of sun and cloud, there may be a spit in the evening for Southland. Light northwesterlies, winds tend northeast for coastal Otago.
Highs: 16-18
