A north to northeasterly airflow lies over the country today, rain or showers in the west, drier weather out east.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly cloudy with showers, Bay Of Plenty may have rain all day. Showers may become heavy in the afternoon north of Auckland, perhaps some thunder too. Humid with northeasterly winds.
Highs: 23-25

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Partly cloudy, isolated showers especially from afternoon. Showers late afternoon / evening may become heavy with thunder. Northerly winds.
Highs: 22-29

Eastern North Island

Partly cloudy, chance of a spit or shower. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 26-29

Wellington

Mostly cloudy with a few spits, mainly in the morning and again overnight. Breezy northerlies.
Highs: 23-28

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly cloudy with some rain, eastern Marlborough is drier with only a few spits or showers now and then. Northerly winds.
Highs: 23-27

Canterbury

Sun and some high cloud, spots of rain possible, more so up the high country closer to the main divide. Very warm with northerly winds.
Highs: 27-31

West Coast

Rain, heavy falls at times. Breezy north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 21-23

Southland & Otago
Partly cloudy, coastal Southland may have a spit or shower. North or northeast winds.
Highs: 26-29
