Thursday’s national forecast – Mainly settled

A mainly settled day today thanks to high pressure. We have a few showers catching the eastern North Island north of Napier, a few for eastern Northland perhaps also and showers for South Westland as northwesterlies build about the lower south.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Sunny for most. Eastern Northland has some cloud and the risk of a shower till evening. Overnight fog. Light south to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny, Kapiti has some cloud though. Later in the evening some cloud moves in for all. Overnight fog possible for Taranaki. Light winds.
Highs: 11-17

Eastern North Island

Sunny south of Napier with northerlies, north of Napier expect cloud and a few light showers but this will clear from the south during the day with dying southerlies.
Highs: 15-16

Wellington

Sunny with northerly winds.
High: 15

Marlborough & Nelson

Sunny, afternoon north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-17

Canterbury

Sunny with northerly winds inland, tending northeast near the coast.
Highs: 12-17

West Coast

Cloudy areas, showers for Fiordland turn to rain in the evening, overnight showers push north to about Greymouth. Buller has sunny spells during the day. Light winds.
Highs: 14-16

Southland & Otago
Any morning spots of rain clear coastal Southland, sun and high cloud otherwise. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-18
