A southwesterly airflow lies over the country today but will gradually ease as a high pressure system moves in from the Tasman Sea.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning cloud with the chance of a shower, sunny spells break through from afternoon. Bay Of Plenty has a mostly sunny day. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 22-24

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
A mix of sun and cloud, southwesterlies change southeast in the afternoon bringing in the odd shower, clearing evening.
Highs: 17-22

Eastern North Island

Showers develop about Wairarapa in the morning, Hawkes Bay afternoon then Gisborne in the evening as a southerly change moves through. Sun before showers move in.
Highs: 18-24

Wellington

Southerlies develop in the morning bringing cloudy spells and the odd shower.
Highs: 18-20

Marlborough & Nelson

Some cloud for Marlborough with the odd shower, southeasterly winds. Nelson has sun at first then cloud develops, chance of a shower from late afternoon, afternoon northerly winds.
Highs: 18-21

Canterbury

Partly cloudy with occasional showers, cloud thickens in the evening, Southerlies tend to the east in the afternoon.
Highs: 16-20

West Coast

Partly cloudy with the odd shower, South Westland may be mostly sunny. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 18-21

Southland & Otago
Showers for Southland and coastal Otago, clearing in the evening. Central Otago has a mix of sun and cloud. Southwesterly winds, gusty about the coast.
Highs: 14-19
