A northeasterly airflow lies over the country today, rain for many North Island regions with heavy falls for some in the west from Northland through to Taranaki and into Kapiti.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Rain, heavy falls for Northland. Fresh northeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Rain, heavy falls for Taranaki and south of Palmerston North. Northeasterly winds, gusty for northern coastal Taranaki.
Highs: 16-20

Eastern North Island

High cloud, cloudier south of Napier with rain for Wairarapa. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 19-23

Wellington

Rain, heavy falls possible. Northerly winds.
Highs: 18-19

Marlborough & Nelson

Rain, perhaps easing a touch in the afternoon for a time, northerly qaurter winds.
Highs: 17-19

Canterbury

Any morning cloud breaks away then mostly sunny, some high cloud for North Canterbury. Low cloud or fog possible at night. Light winds.
Highs: 19-22

West Coast

Occasional showers although thinning out in the afternoon and sunny areas breaking through, cloud thickens overnight. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 18-19

Southland & Otago
Morning showers then sunny areas increase. Low cloud or fog may develop in the evening. Light easterlies.
Highs: 19-21
