A frontal feature lies over central New Zealand today bringing rain or showers, meanwhile a low approaches to the northwest.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning cloud breaks then mostly sunny, cloud thickens again in the evening with a few showers in the east. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 21-24

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Rain, clearing up in the afternoon and a few areas of sun break through, especially later before dusk. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 20-22

Eastern North Island

Any morning cloud breaks then mostly sunny, Wairarapa has scattered rain, clearing up in the afternoon then some sun. Light northerlies, perhaps tending northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 23-25

Wellington

Mostly cloudy, a few spits especially afternoon. Northerly winds.
Highs: 19-20

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud, some mid level cloud possible from midday, north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 20-23

Canterbury

Morning mist of fog possible then expect sun and a touch of high cloud, light east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 17-18

West Coast

Sun and some high cloud, mid level cloud for Fiordland with the chance of a light shower. Cloud thickens for Buller from afternoon, showers there in the evening then pushing southwards overnight. Light winds.
Highs: 17-21

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny after any early mist or fog clears, a touch of high cloud during the day. Light winds.
Highs: 17-18
