An easterly airflow lies over the upper North Island today bringing in cloudy periods and the odd shower. Generally sunny weather about the lower North Island with light wind and sea breezes, isolated showers in the afternoon for inland areas. A front works its way north over the South Island bringing showers, some may be heavy in the east early to mid afternoon.
Northland
Cloudy spells with brisk east to northeast winds. The odd shower at  times.
Highs: 21
Auckland
Cloudy spells with a few sunny areas, east to northeast winds. Chance of a  shower mainly in the afternoon.
High: 22
Central North Island, Bay Of Plenty,  Waikato
A few morning showers about the Bay Of Plenty clear then expect afternoon  sunny spells, east to northeast breezes. Sunny spells elsewhere with east to  northeast winds tending more northwest about southern parts of the Central North  Island. A few afternoon isolated showers are possible about southern parts of  the Central North Island also, clearing in the evening.

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with westerly breezes about Wairarpa, northeasterlies further  north. Late afternoon and evening a few isolated showers develop about the  ranges of Hawkes Bay, these showers may become heavy and thundery for a time and  drift towards the coast in the evening. Showers then clear around  midnight.

Western North Island
Mostly sunny with light winds and afternoon sea breezs, some cloud during  the afternoon mainly inland. Isolated showers about inland Manawatu in the  afternoon clear evening.
Highs: 20-21
Wellington
Mostly sunny  with brisk northerly breezes. Overnight winds change southerly with some cloud  and the chance of a shower.
High: 19
Nelson
Mostly sunny with afternoon northeasterly breezes. Overnight winds tend  southerly.
Highs: 21-22
Marlborough
Sunny with northerly to northwest breezes, later in the evening there may  be some cloud with a brief shower or two.
Highs: 25-26
Canterbury
Sunny with light winds and warm temperatures, early to mid afternoon  southerlies develop bringing increasing cloud and showers. One or two showers  may be briefly heavy before easing by evening.
High: 26
West Coast
Cloudy with the odd shower and northerly breezes.
High: 17
Coastal Otago
Showers develop in the morning with a southwest change early on, showers  ease and clear during the afternoon with sunny spells by evening as  southwesterlies die out.
Highs: 14-15
Southland & Central Otago
Rain, clearing by midday in Southland and mid afternoon for Central Otago.  Sunny spells then developing with cool southwesterly breezes.
Highs: 14-20
