A front stalls and weakens about the upper South Island today bringing rain or showers in the west, high cloud out east. Either side of the front about the lower South Island and for most of the North Island the weather is generally settled with ridges of high pressure.
Auckland & Northland
Sunny spells, light northeasterly winds along eastern coastlines. Winds tend west to northwest in the west.

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Sunny spells with light winds tending westerly, some cloud thickening a little about the Central North Island from later in the afternoon.
Highs: 19-21
Eastern North Island
Sunny with a few flicks of high cloud. Light winds tend northeast just on the coast. Warm temperatures just inland.
Highs: 19-23
Western North Island
Morning sunny areas, cloud increases in the afternoon with light north to northwesterly breezes. Chance of overnight drizzle.
Highs: 17-18
Wellington
Mostly cloudy with gusty northerlies, the odd spit of rain possible at times from afternoon.
Highs: 15-16
Nelson
Cloudy with spells of rain now and then from morning, northerly breezes.
High: 16
Marlborough
Plenty of thick high cloud with breezy northerly winds. A few spots of rain possible at times otherwise mainly dry.
Highs: 18-19
Canterbury
Early showers clear then sunny areas increase to become mostly sunny in the afternoon, northeasterly winds near the coast with slightly cooler temperatures and winds tend northwest inland. Some high cloud may stick around North Canterbury during the day.

West Coast
Morning rain eases to showers, northerly winds.
High: 15
Coastal Otago
Morning cloud or fog clears to a mostly sunny day, northeasterly winds brisk at times. High cloud increases late afternoon onwards.
Highs: 15-16
Southland & Central Otago
Chance of early fog then sunny with some high cloud developing in the afternoon, northerly breezes. Overnight some rain develops.
Highs: 18-19
