A cold southerly airflow works it’s way north over the country today, expect showers to ease in most areas clearing in the evening or overnight. Potentially frosty at night mainly about inland areas of the South Island and perhaps inland North Island.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato
Showers with gusty westerlies from morning, showers ease during the afternoon then clear in the evening for most however the odd shower sticking around for Auckland. A few sunny spells break though now and then during the day too.
Highs: 17-18
CNI & BOP
Morning showers clear about BOP with sunny spells then increasing, breezy westerlies tend southerly in the evening and skies then becoming totally clear. The odd shower sticks around about the CNI till evening then clears there. Cold at night for the CNI.
Highs: 13-18
Eastern North Island
Early rain clears Gisborne and further north about East Cape. Sunny spells in the morning otherwise with light winds and some high cloud. Mid morning southerlies move into Wairarapa with showers then showers move further north in the afternoon.
Highs: 16-18
Western North Island
Morning rain then easing to showers in the afternoon as northerlies change southeast. Showers clear at night.
Highs: 14-15
Wellington
Rain in the morning then easing to showers during the afternoon, strong cold southerly winds from early on.
Highs: 12-13
Nelson
Morning rain clears then becoming mostly sunny with southerly breezes. A few further showers may move through later in the evening then clearing overnight.
Highs: 14-15
Marlborough
Morning rain clears then expect mainly dry weather with cloudy spells. Winds brisk and cool from the south. While it will be mainly dry in the afternoon there is the risk of the odd shower at times, mainly later in the evening.
Highs: 13-14
Canterbury
A period of morning rain then easing to showers. Showers ease during the evening becoming few and far between then clearing overnight. Snow flurries to 700m from afternoon. Breezy cold southwesterlies.
Highs: 9-10
West Coast
Any morning showers clear then mostly sunny with south to southeasterly breezes.
Highs: 15-17
Southland & Otago
Showers with cold southwesterlies, snow flurries to 600m. Showers ease during the afternoon then clear overnight. Showers about Southland clear in the morning. Cold at night especially inland with frosts.
Highs: 8-10

I think the Low thats been hanging around for the past several days now should bugger off. Has brought nothing but boring weather to Wellington, yes a few heavy showers but thats it.
Time for the next system to do its stuff.
