Mainly settled for the South Island today after a cold start, a few showers in the northeast clear this morning. Southeasterlies for the North Island gradually ease, rain eases to showers in the east, mainly dry out west but a few showers possible especially Northland this afternoon.
Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Partly cloudy, mainly dry but there could be a spot of rain or two. Morning showers clear Bay Of Plenty and Coromandel, a few showers push into Northland for a time in the afternoon then clearing evening. Southeasterly winds. Light overnight frosts for Waikato and perhaps inland Bay Of Plenty / southern Auckland.

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloud breaks to sunny areas from afternoon, about the Central Plateau showers pass over from the east at times with snow flurries to 600m, clearing evening. Cold southeasterly winds. Overnight frosts likely for many inland areas away from the coast.

Eastern North Island
Rain eases to showers around midday, some snow to about 600m. Cold south to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 10-14
Wellington
Morning showers clear, sunny areas increase from afternoon. Fresh south to southeasterly winds.
High: 11
Marlborough & Nelson
Any early cloud clears then mostly sunny, southeasterly winds, gusty about the Sounds.
Highs: 12-15
Canterbury
Morning showers and snow flurries to 400m north of the Rakaia River clear, increasing sunny areas from afternoon with southwesterlies tending east to northeast, freshening about the coast. South of the Rakaia River conditions are mainly dry with morning cloud breaking away, a frosty start about inland areas.
Highs: 10-12
West Coast
Sunny, southeasterly winds die away during the morning. Winds tend light north to northwest in the afternoon.
Highs: 13-16
Southland & Otago
Sunny after a frosty start, any early cloud about coastal Otago clears. Northeasterly winds, freshening up about coastal Otago in the afternoon.
Highs: 10-15
