Upper North Island

The odd shower about western areas this morning with northwesterly breezes, in the afternoon winds change west to southwest with conditions easing and showers clearing in the evening. Later at night another period of showers may move through however. The Bay Of Plenty is most likely to remain dry in the morning however there will be plenty of cloud, later in the afternoon showers develop possibly heavy then easing at night. Westerlies ease off this morning in Gisborne, expect fine weather with some cloud, in the afternoon cloud builds then late afternoon a few showers get going with east to southeast winds.
HIGHS: 19-20 for most today. 18-19 for Bay Of Plenty and the Waikato.

Lower North Island

The odd shower about western areas this morning with northwesterly breezes, in the afternoon winds tend west to southwest with showers becoming heavy later about Taranaki and into the Central North Island. Showers ease later at night. Westerlies ease off this morning in Hawkes Bay and Wairarapa, expect fine weather with some cloud, in the afternoon cloud builds then late afternoon a few showers get going with east to southeast winds. Showers may be heavy from later in the evening about Hawkes Bay.
HIGHS: 16-17 for most. 19-20 about Hawkes Bay however, late teens in Wairarapa.

Upper South Island

A mix of cloudy and sunny areas today, east to southeasterly winds on the east coast and west to southwest winds on the West Coast. Cloud may be thicker morning and night in most places. Later in the afternoon isolated showers develop about inland hills and ranges possibly becoming heavy at times, showers may spread to the coast in the evening then clearing at night. There is a chance one or two showers may turn thundery late afternoon or evening for a time, the risk is fairly low but it is possible.
HIGHS: 18-19 about Nelson and Marlborough. 16-17 on the West Coast and in Canterbury.

Lower South Island

A mix of cloudy and sunny areas today, east to southeasterly winds on the east coast and southwesterly winds on the West Coast. Cloud may be thicker morning and night. Later in the afternoon isolated showers develop about inland hills and ranges possibly becoming heavy at times then clearing at night. There is a chance one or two showers may turn thundery about eastern Otago late afternoon or evening for a time.
HIGHS: 15-17 about Southland and Otago, 14-15 on the West Coast south of the Glaciers.
