A northwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, wet weather in the west and drier out east however the eastern North Island sees spots of rain spread from the west at times.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Morning rain then showers, some may be heavy. Sunny spells may break through at times. Breezy Nor’West winds.
Highs: 13-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning rain then showers, some may be heavy at times with thunderstorms and hail. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-14

Eastern North Island
High cloud, some sun at times. Spots of rain spread from the west now and then. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-18

Wellington
Showers, more so in the morning (especially northern Wellington) with longer dry spells from afternoon. Some sun may break through at times from afternoon also. Gusty northwesterly winds.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny areas and some high cloud for Marlborough, showers spread into Nelson at times from the west. North to northwesterly winds, breezy for Marlborough.
Highs: 13-15

Canterbury
Mostly sunny, some high cloud. Light north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-15

West Coast
Areas of rain or showers with northerly winds.
Highs: 10-11

Southland & Otago
Sunny areas and some high cloud, may be a spot of rain late afternoon / evening for Southland. The odd shower spreads from the west into western Central Otago at times. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 11-12
