A northwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today with areas of rain or showers in the west, sunnier conditions out east with high cloud.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Patchy rain or showers, rain may become heavy overnight. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-17

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloud with the odd shower, some rain about northern Taranaki especially later in the evening. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-15

Eastern North Island
Mostly sunny with some increasing high cloud, northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-19

Wellington
A mix of mid and high level cloud, may be a spit of rain mainly in the north otherwise fairly dry. Breezy northwesterly winds.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with some high cloud possible, north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-16

Canterbury
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, light north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-15

West Coast
Mostly cloudy with the odd shower, rain about Fiordland with heavy falls possible. North to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 12-13

Southland & Otago
Some high cloud with spots of rain in the afternoon for Southland, possibly evening for Otago. Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 10-14
