An anticyclone in the Tasman Sea spreads a ridge of high pressure over New Zealand today bringing mainly settled conditions.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Mostly cloudy, chance of a light shower or two in the morning about the Waikato northwards otherwise mainly dry. Cloud breaks in the afternoon to some sun about the Waikato then fog possible overnight. Sou’West winds.
Highs: 18-19

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells, there may be a light shower or two mainly near the coast. Winds are mainly light tending west to southwest near the coast.
Highs: 15-18

Eastern North Island
Sunny with a touch of high cloud, light winds.
Highs: 17-18

Wellington
Mostly sunny with light north to northeasterly winds.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson
Any morning cloud clears then mostly sunny with light winds.
Highs: 17-18

Canterbury
Sunny with light winds tending easterly in the afternoon.
Highs: 14-16

West Coast
Any early showers clear then mostly sunny, light winds.
Highs: 13-16

Southland & Otago
Risk of an early shower for Southland then expect mostly cloudy skies although areas of sun may be more frequent from afternoon. Otago sees any morning cloud break to mostly sunny conditions and some high cloud. Winds are mainly light, tending westerly for most.
Highs: 13-15
