A blustery west to southwest airflow lies over New Zealand today, within this flow a cold front moves onto the lower South Island around midday reaching the lower North Island overnight.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Partly cloudy and mainly dry but there might be an isolated shower or two at times. The Bay Of Plenty is mostly sunny and dry. Southwesterly winds, breezy about western coastal areas.
Highs: 17-19

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy areas, may be a shower or two at times otherwise mainly dry. Breezy west to southwest winds change southerly overnight with showers.
Highs: 14-16

Eastern North Island
Sunny, westerly winds freshen in the evening then an overnight southwest change brings a few showers.
Highs: 17-19

Wellington
Mostly sunny, northwesterly winds pick up from afternoon then changing southerly overnight bringing showers.
High: 16

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with breezy westerlies, winds tend more southwest about Nelson. An overnight southerly change brings a few showers for Marlborough.
Highs: 16-17

Canterbury
Sunny with increasing northwesterly winds, a fresh evening southwest change brings showers.
Highs: 15-17

West Coast
Mostly cloudy with a few showers, rain moves into Fiordland around midday then pushing into North Westland around evening. Rain eases overnight with long dry spells developing. Southwest winds becoming gusty as the front moves northwards.
Highs: 12-14

Southland & Otago
Showers then rain from late morning as strong to gale westerlies change southwest, rain clears in the evening then winds ease. Otago has a dry morning then rain moves in around midday.
Highs: 12-14
