A low pressure system moves onto Central New Zealand today bringing unsettled weather for most regions.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Increasing cloud, showers develop about Northland in the afternoon then gradually spreading southwards. There may be an isolated heavy fall here. Showers ease in the evening then rain spreads in from the west overnight. North to northeasterly winds freshen.
Highs: 18-21

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with the odd shower, slightly more likely from afternoon then rain develops later in the evening especially for Taranaki. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-18

Eastern North Island
Sunny areas and some high cloud, a few spots of rain spread into the Wairarapa at times. Northerly winds.
Highs: 17-22

Wellington
Patchy rain with breezy northerly winds.
High: 15

Marlborough & Nelson
Some rain, easing and becoming patchy in the afternoon. Picking up again in the evening for Nelson. Northerly winds.
Highs: 14-15

Canterbury
Rain eases to mostly cloudy skies and the odd shower around midday as southerlies tend easterly. Rain picks up again overnight as southwesterly winds freshen.
Highs: 9-11

West Coast
Mostly cloudy skies, heavy morning rain then easing during the day. Showers about Fiordland clear by evening. Winds from the north or northeast for most.
Highs: 14-16

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny about Southland, Otago sees areas of cloud and occasional sun. Southwesterly winds, showers develop overnight with snow flurries possible to low levels (200 to 100m) about Southland.
Highs: 10-12
