An anticyclone brings mainly settled weather to the South Island today, southeasterlies for the North Island bring rain or showers in the east. Mainly dry out west however a shower or two is still possible for some.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Some cloud with the odd shower possible, mainly dry overall. Winds from the south or southeast, breezy at times.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly cloudy with the odd shower, Taranaki may stay mainly dry. Breezy southeasterly winds, strong about the coast.
Highs: 9-14

Eastern North Island
Areas of rain or showers, heavy at times for Hawkes Bay and Gisborne. Fresh south to southeasterly winds.
High: 10-13

Wellington
Occasional showers with brisk to strong southerly winds.
High: 12

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly cloudy about Marlborough, there may be a light shower or two. Sunny spells for Nelson. Breezy southeasterly winds.
Highs: 12-15

Canterbury
A mix of sun and cloud, south of Banks Peninsula expect clearer sunnier skies. Light winds tend easterly in the afternoon.
Highs: 9-11

West Coast
Sunny with southeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-16

Southland & Otago
Mostly sunny with easterly quarter winds.
Highs: 11-14
