A west to southwesterly airflow flows over New Zealand today with a front pushing onto the lower South Island overnight.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A mix of sun and cloud for most with the low risk of a shower or two out west, the Bay Of Plenty is mainly sunny. Southwesterly winds.
Highs: 18-20

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Areas of cloud and the odd sunny spell, there may be a shower or two also mainly in the afternoon. West to northwesterly winds freshen. Coldest temperatures are about the Central North Island.
Highs: 13-18

Eastern North Island
Sunny with west to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 18-21

Wellington
Mostly sunny with a touch of high cloud possible, breezy northwesterly winds.
High: 17

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, northwesterly winds for Marlborough and southwesterlies about Nelson.
Highs: 17-20

Canterbury
Mainly sunny, there may be some high cloud. Light winds tend northwest, inland sees northwesterlies pick up a bit in the afternoon.
Highs: 17-19

West Coast
Mostly cloudy with the odd shower, showers more frequent about South Westland especially from evening then overnight rain moves in. Westerly winds.
Highs: 13-15

Southland & Otago
Cloudy areas for Southland with the chance of a shower. Showers more likely from evening then some rain moves in overnight. Otago has sunny areas and some high cloud. Breezy northwesterly winds.
Highs: 15-17
