A ridge lies over much of the country today, the airflow coming in from the northeast over the North Island and northwest for the South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
A chance of morning fog then a mix of sun and cloud. There may be a shower or two about eastern coastal areas like the Coromandel, Great Barrier Island and eastern Northland then they may propagate to other areas further west at times. Light east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Sunny with light winds in the morning, a chance of fog / frost to start the day about the Central North Island. Afternoon west to northwest winds for most. Light afternoon northerlies for Taranaki. Some cloud for Kapiti during the day streaming in from the Tasman.
Highs: 12-15

Eastern North Island
Sunny with afternoon northeasterlies.
Highs: 15-16

Wellington
Sunny spells with north to northwesterly winds.
High: 14

Marlborough & Nelson
Sunny with light winds in the morning, afternoon north to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 14-17

Canterbury
Mainly sunny with some high cloud possible, light winds.
High: 15

West Coast
Cloudy areas, perhaps a light shower or two. Some sun may even break through at times. Fiordland sees showers or drizzle, perhaps some rain now and then. Northeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-15

Southland & Otago
Spotty areas of rain about Southland, easing afternoon then clearing evening. Otago sees some high cloud, only a spot or two of rain possible late afternoon / evening. Light north to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 13-14
