A west to northwesterly airflow lies over New Zealand today, conditions may become unstable about the western North Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Showers, some might be heavy with the chance of a thunderstorm / hail in the west, especially in the lead up to midday then gradually easing from afternoon. A chance of some sun breaking through now and then also.
Highs: 15-16

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Cloudy areas, a period of showers in the afternoon. Taranaki sees rain for much of the day with the chance of a few heavy falls at times (perhaps even some lightning / hail). Northwesterly winds.
Highs: 12-15

Eastern North Island
Any early spots of rain clear then mostly sunny with some high cloud, northwesterly winds.
Highs: 16-18

Wellington
Sunny spells and a few showers, breezy north to northwesterly winds.
High: 13

Marlborough & Nelson
Mostly sunny with some high cloud about Marlborough, cloud a little more frequent about Nelson with a chance of a shower or two. North to northwesterly winds.
Highs: 13-16

Canterbury
Any morning cloud breaks then mostly sunny with some high cloud, light winds.

Highs: 12-14

West Coast
Cloudy areas and the odd shower, long dry spells also. Light northeasterlies.
Highs: 12-13

Southland & Otago
Sunny areas and some cloud, rain moves into Southland late afternoon then Otago later in the evening as southwesterly winds freshen.
Highs: 11-12
