A gusty east to southeasterly airflow eases over the North Island later  today meanwhile a ridge starts to make some headway over the South Island.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty
Rain (possibly heavy about Northland) easing, clearing for most this morning although showers may hang about Northland for much of the day. Sun breaks through after rain clears. Breezy east to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 14-15

Western North Island (including Central North Island)
Mostly sunny with some high cloud, southeasterly winds.
Highs: 8-13

Eastern North Island
The odd drizzle patch or shower, south to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 10-11

Wellington
Mostly cloudy, chance of a light shower or two. Breezy southeasterly winds.
High: 9

Marlborough & Nelson
Morning cloud breaks to sunny spells about Marlborough, breezy southeasterly winds. A sunny day for Nelson, light winds tend northeast in the afternoon.
Highs: 10-11

Canterbury
A few morning showers clear, remaining mostly cloudy although sun breaks through this afternoon about some inland areas and especially about South Canterbury. Light south to southeasterly winds.
High: 8

West Coast
Mostly sunny with some high cloud possible, light southeasterlies.
Highs: 12-13

Southland & Otago
Any morning cloud breaks to mostly sunny weather, cloud about coastal Otago may be a bit more persistent during the day. Light east to northeasterly winds.
Highs: 6-9
