A frontal zone stays fairly stationary over the North Island on Thursday, slowly moving southwards later in the day. The rest of the country has high pressure.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Areas of rain or drizzle, a chance of a few heavy falls especially about Northland in the morning then further south from afternoon. Light east to southeasterly winds.
Highs: 22-23

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Sunny areas and thickening high cloud, some rain moves into the Central North Island later in the afternoon or evening. Rain moves in for all overnight. Easterly winds.
Highs: 20-24

Eastern North Island

Cloudy, the odd shower or drizzle patch then rain moves in during the evening. Mainly dry about the Wairarapa with high cloud. Easterly winds.
Highs: 20-21

Wellington

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, light easterly winds.
High: 23

Marlborough & Nelson

Mostly sunny with some high cloud, easterlies for Marlborough and afternoon northerlies for Nelson.
High: 21-23

Canterbury

Sunny with breezy east to northeasterly winds in the afternoon especially near the coast, evening cloud.
Highs: 21-22

West Coast

Mainly sunny with light southwesterly winds.
Highs: 18-24

Southland & Otago

Mainly sunny with light winds. Afternoon east to northeasterly winds about coastal Otago.
Highs: 17-23
