Upper North Island

Mostly cloudy, a few showers from late afternoon then clearing in the evening. Southwesterly winds.

Lower North Island

Mostly cloudy in the west, a few showers possible this afternoon then clearing by evening as westerlies change southerly. Mainly sunny to start with some high cloud on the east coast, cloud and the odd shower spreading northwards this afternoon as southerly winds freshen. Showers mostly clearing overnight.

Upper South Island

Any morning showers clear on the West Coast then sunny areas increase, patchy showers or drizzle in the east gradually clearing this afternoon. The odd drizzle patch may linger till evening. Southerly winds tend easterly in the evening. Nelson sees high cloud clearing this afternoon, light winds tend northerly this afternoon.

Lower South Island

Mostly sunny about Fiordland. Fairly cloudy about Southland and coastal Otago, chance of a shower or two with southwesterly winds. Inland areas see sunny spells with mainly dry conditions.
