A northeasterly airflow lies over most of New Zealand today, some afternoon instability for parts of the upper North Island and lower South Island leading to showers some of which may be heavy.

Northland, Auckland, Waikato & Bay Of Plenty

Sunny spells north of Auckland, fairly cloudy elsewhere. A few showers about especially late afternoon / evening with the chance of isolated heavy falls. The Waikato may see thunderstorms in the afternoon then easing in the evening. Winds mainly from the east.
Highs: 16-18

Western North Island (including Central North Island)

Mostly cloudy with the odd shower, mainly afternoon / evening with the chance of an isolated heavy fall. Easterly winds.
Highs: 14-17

Eastern North Island

Rain, possibly heavy in the morning then easing from afternoon. Breezy easterly winds.
Highs: 15-16

Wellington

Mostly cloudy, a few showers possible mainly in the morning. Easterly winds.
High: 16

Marlborough & Nelson

Showers or drizzle patches with easterly winds.
Highs: 15-16

Canterbury

Cloudy with drizzle patches possible. Breezy easterly winds.
High: 14

West Coast

Sunny spells, chance of an isolated shower late afternoon / evening. Light winds.
Highs: 17-18

Southland & Otago

Sunny spells, chance of a late afternoon / evening isolated shower especially in the west otherwise mainly dry. Mostly cloudy about coastal Otago with the chance of a drizzle patch. Light east to northeasterly winds for most although winds fairly breezy about coastal Otago.
Highs: 14-19
