We have two high pressure systems in the west, and an advancing low in the south – meaning a cool start down south and showers in parts of the South Island, while the north island stays largely under the influence of that northeasterly flow..

Southland, Central & Coastal Otago, Canterbury

A chilly start for some of you then a mostly sunny, dry, day with conditions warming up again. Light winds, may still be a southerly in coastal Canterbury
Highs: 20 coastal to 26 inland
Tonight’s Low: 5 to 9

West Coast

A chilly start for some of you then a mostly sunny, dry, day with conditions warming up again. Could be an afternoon heavy shower in the hills north of Greymouth.

Light winds
Highs: 21 to 25
Tonight’s Low: 9 

Marlborough & Nelson

A mostly sunny day with a hot afternoon after a cool morning. Could be an afternoon heavy shower through the inland ranges south of Nelson and Blenheim. Light winds
Highs: 24 to 26
Tonight’s Lows: 8 to 10

Wellington, Eastern North Island & also BOP

Light southerlies fade out with fairly sunny conditions. Afternoon cloud build ups may produce a late heavy shower about the inland ranges and Gisborne.
Highs: 22 to 24
Tonight’s Low: 15 – 17

Rest of the North Island

A mix of sun and cloud. Hotter inland. Dry for most, only a low risk of a coastal shower in the east of Northland. Light winds.
Highs: 23 to 27
Tonight’s Lows: 9-15
