A broad low pressure system lies over the South Island today delivering showers to many regions while a few areas may remain dry, mainly near the coast. The North Island has a west to northwesterly airflow bringing showers in the west and dry weather out east.

Sunny spells with warm humid northwesterly breezes.
Highs: 25-27

Auckland

Early showers clear then expect sunny spells with humid northwesterly
winds.
High: 24

Bay Of Plenty

Morning showers clear to sunny spells, humid northwesterly winds.
High: 25

Waikato

Morning showers clear then sunny spells develop, humid
northwesterlies.
High: 23

Central North Island

Occasional showers clear late afternoon, sunny spells then increase.
Northwesterly winds.
High: 21

Eastern North Island

Early cloud clears to mostly sunny weather, northerly winds tend northwest
during the morning.
Highs: 26-27

Western North Island

The odd shower with northwesterly winds, showers clear mid to late
afternoon then sunny spells develop.
Highs: 20-22

Wellington

Spells of rain with northerly winds, clearing late afternoon or
evening.
High: 19

Nelson

Rain eases clearing around midday or early afternoon, then becoming mostly
sunny. Northerly winds tend northwest around midday.
Highs: 22-23

Marlborough

Showers ease then clear early afternoon then becoming mostly sunny,
northerly winds tend northwest around midday.
High: 25

Canterbury

Mostly cloudy with light northeasterly winds tending southwest in the
afternoon, showers mainly inland with the chance of a heavy fall clear later in
the evening. Showers may spread to nearer the coast for a time late afternoon /
evening.

West Coast

Cloudy periods with the odd shower, light northwesterlies.
High: 21

Coastal Otago

Sunny spells and increasing cloud, odd shower from afternoon. Southwesterly
winds.
High: 19

Central Otago

A few morning sunny areas, chance of a shower mainly west of the Southern
Lakes area. In the afternoon showers develop as light winds tend southerly.
Showers ease later in the evening.
Highs: 23-24

Southland

Mostly cloudy with a few sunny areas possible. Southerly winds and the odd
brief shower, mainly in the west at first then perhaps spreading eastwards in
the afternoon.
Highs: 19
