A ridge brings mainly settled weather to the South Island today, a few early morning coastal showers Banks Peninsula northwards clear. Showers continue for much of the day about Wellington and the east coast of the North Island, mainly sunny in the west.

Mostly sunny with southerly winds apart from a few morning showers along the west coast which clear.
High: 13

Auckland

Mostly sunny with south to southwesterly winds.
High: 12

Bay Of Plenty

Sunny with light southwesterlies.
Highs: 11-12

Waikato & Central North Island

Mostly sunny with southerly winds. The odd shower with a few snow flurries
to 600m about southern parts of the Central North Island, mainly morning then
possibly again overnight.
Highs: 10-11

Eastern North Island

Showers with breezy southwesterly winds, periods of rain for northern
Hawkes Bay and Gisborne. Snow flurries to 600m about Wairarapa and 800m in
Gisborne.
Highs: 10-11

Taranaki
Mostly sunny with
brisk southeasterly winds, chance of an early shower then clearing (mainly for
the southern half of the region).

High: 11

Western North Island

A few morning showers clear then expect cloudy areas and the odd sunny
break for the rest of the day with cool southerlies. Overnight a few further
showers move through.
High: 10

Wellington

Occasional showers with brisk cold southerlies, small hail at times and
snow flurries to 600m. Becoming infrequent around midday and mostly clearing by
evening. Remaining fairly cloudy overnight.
High: 9

Nelson

Mostly sunny with light winds tending southerly.
Highs: 11

Marlborough

Mostly sunny with southerly winds, about southern Marlborough expect
morning showers and snow flurries to 500m then clearing with cloud then slowly
breaking.
Highs: 8-10

Canterbury

Any early morning showers and snow flurries to 400m clear then sunny spells
increasing, cold southwesterly winds ease dying out by evening.
Highs: 8-9

West Coast

Sunny with light winds tending southeasterly.
Highs: 10-11

Coastal Otago

Mostly sunny with northeasterly winds, some cloud possible from time to
time.
High: 8

Central Otago

Sunny with light winds tending northeaterly, frosty morning and
night.
Highs: 3-5

Southland

Sunny with light east to northeast winds after a frosty start.
Highs: 6-7
