Get ready for another shot of cold, wind and rain.
Most of New Zealand will miss out on that stuff today. But by tonight the deep south of South Island should be feeling it’s full effects. The wet and blustery conditions will then spread over the country on Friday.
For today though, the South Island can expect increasing westerlies. Those winds will turn south late in the day for Southland and Otago. Shower should creep up the West Coast this afternoon and turn to widespread rain by mid afternoon. Widespread rain is also expected to move on shore in the deep south this afternoon. Heavy rain is possible for parts of the West Coast and inland Canterbury late tonight. Highs should be in the upper teens down south to the lower to mid 20s in Christchurch, Nelson and Blenheim.
For the North Island, Wellington could see a pretty windy day with gale force winds possible. Along with the rest of the far southern North Island, Wellington could see some rain. But not until tonight. The rest of the North Island will see plenty of sunshine and settled weather today. Look for highs to range from 20-25.
