A northwesterly airflow strengthens over the South Island and lower North Island tonight, dry skies in the east with rain out west in the South Island. West to southwesterly winds for the upper North Island with periods of cloud increasing.

Cloudy periods with southwesterly winds, easing a little this evening.
Tonight’s Lows: 9-12

Bay Of Plenty

Mainly clear skies with southwesterlies easing this evening.
Tonight’s Low: 9

Waikato & Central North Island

Clear spells and increasing cloud with west to southwesterly winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 4-7

Eastern North Island

Mainly clear skies, northwesterlies develop overnight especially about the
Wairarapa where they may become strong.
Tonight’s Lows: 6-9

Western North Island

Cloudy areas increasing, breezy west to northwesterly winds. A few showers
possible, mainly towards dawn tomorrow.
Tonight’s Lows: 10-11

Wellington

Mainly clear skies with gusty northwesterly winds, becoming strong
overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 12

Nelson

Clear skies and southwesterly winds, northwesterlies freshen overnight with
increasing cloud and the odd shower moving in towards dawn.
Tonight’s Lows: 9-10

Marlborough

Mainly clear with gusty northwesterly winds, strong at times
overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-8

Canterbury

Clear skies, gusty northwesterlies inland spreading to the coast this
evening. Northwesterlies becoming strong overnight, mainly inland. Some high
cloud develops overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-8

West Coast

Rain, heavy falls develop overnight. Gusty northwesterly winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 9-10

Coastal Otago

Clear skies with northwesterly winds, high cloud building overnight. Rain
around dawn tomorrow with southwesterlies developing.
Tonight’s Low: 8

Central Otago

The odd shower west of the Southern Lakes area, turning to rain overnight
and becoming heavy. Dry further east with high cloud building. Gusty west to
northwest winds.
Tonight’s Low: 7

Southland

Cloudy with brisk westerlies, chance of the odd shower. Rain moves in
overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 8
