A low pressure system in the Tasman Sea brings a mainly showery night ahead for New Zealand, places that remain mostly dry will be the east coast of the North Island and the West Coast of the South Island once showers clear this evening.

Auckland & Northland
Showers about, some may be heavy then easing overnight.
Northwesterlies.
Tonight’s Lows: 11-12

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island

Showers, some heavy then easing overnight. Showers about Waikato and west of Lake Taupo may continue to be heavy at times during the night however.
Tonight’s Lows: 9-11

Eastern North Island

Areas of high cloud, there may be a few thicker periods of cloud with a few
showers spreading from the west otherwise mainly dry. Light winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 9-10

Taranaki

Showers, some heavy with possible thunderstorms. Northwesterly winds.
Tonight’s Low: 10-11

Western North Island

Showers, some heavy. Northwesterly winds.
Tonight’s Lows: 8-9

Wellington

Periods of cloud, showers developing this evening. Winds change southerly
overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 10

Marlborough & Nelson

Showers with light winds, easing overnight and clearing for some.
Tonight’s Lows: 6-8

Canterbury

Cloudy with showers, easing overnight and clearing around dawn tomorrow.
Southwesterlies.
Tonight’s Lows: 7-8

West Coast

Cloudy periods with showers (heavy with a few thunderstorms north of
Greymouth) clearing this evening. Cloud breaking overnight. Light winds.
Tonight’s Low: 7

Coastal Otago

Cloudy this evening with any remaining showers clearing, light
southeasterlies. Cloud may break up a little overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 6

Central Otago

Mostly cloudy with light winds, cloud may break up a little
overnight.
Tonight’s Lows: 2-3

Southland

Periods of cloud, light southeasterlies tend westerly overnight.
Tonight’s Low: 5
