A southwest change and front combination makes its way over the upper South Island this evening then onto the North Island overnight. Expect some rain or showers for most although the upper north and east of the North Island may not see anything till dawn tomorrow morning.

Northland
Cloudy areas in the west spread into eastern Northland later this evening,
westerly breezes. The odd shower develops towards dawn tomorrow morning in the
west.

Auckland

Fairly cloudy with breezy westerlies, chance of a shower towards dawn
tomorrow morning.
Tonight’s lows: 17-18

Central North Island, Waikato
& Bay Of Plenty

Mostly cloudy about the Waikato and western parts of the Central North
Island, sunnier conditions further east. Cloud become more widespread during
this evening. Winds brisk to strong from the west. Overnight a few showers
develop for most although the Bay Of Plenty may not see anything till dawn
tomorrow morning.

Eastern North Island

High cloud increases this evening, strong west to northwest breezes.
Overnight showers move into the Wairarapa with southerlies.
Tonight’s lows: 15-18

Western North Island

Mostly cloudy with brisk westerly winds, the odd spit about northern
Taranaki and Kapiti otherwise mainly dry elsewhere. More widepsread showers move
in overnight.
Tonight’s lows: 14-15

Wellington

Mostly cloudy with brisk to strong northerlies, winds change southerly
overnight bringing a few showers.
Tonight’s lows: 12-13

Nelson

Cloudy spells with westerly breezes, chance of a brief showers this evening
otherwise mainly dry. Clear spells develop overnight as winds tend more
southwest.
Tonight’s low: 13

Marlborough

High cloud with west to northwest breezes, a south to southwest change
overnight may bring a few showers mainly to the coast.
Tonight’s low: 12

Canterbury

Winds change southerly late this afternoon and evening through Canterbury,
skies fairly cloudy with a few isolated showers moving through mid and north
Canterbury late this afternoon then clearing. Showers move into South Canterbury
early evening then further north later this evening then clearing just after
midnight.
Tonight’s lows: 10-11

West Coast

Rain eases to showers this evening then clearing overnight, westerlies tend
southwest later this evening.
Tonight’s lows: 11-12

Coastal Otago

Any remaining showers clear this evening, southwesterly winds become
strong. The odd shower may move through overnight otherwise mainly dry with
strong west to southwest breezes continuing.
Tonight’s low: 8

Central Otago

Any remaining showers clear this evening, clear spells overnight with
southwesterlies easing.
Tonight’s lows: 6-7

Southland

Occasional showers with strong to gale westlies, easing a little overnight.
Chance or some small hail towards dawn tomorrow morning.
Tonight’s lows: 7-8
