High pressure covers most of the country tonight with a low to the north of New Zealand and a weaking front working it’s way north onto the lower North Island. The odd shower affects Northland, isolated showers elsewhere about the North Island clear this evening. For the South Island, rain about Canterbury eases to drizzle this evening. Showers on the West Coast clear.

Central North Island, Bay Of Plenty, Waikato
Areas of cloud about inland regions, isolated showers some heavy clearing this evening. Clearer skies about coastal parts. East to northeast breezes ease overnight.

Eastern North Island
Some cloud with east to northeasterly breezes. Isolated showers about Hawkes Bay and Gisborne, some heavy in the ranges then clearing this evening.

Western North Island
Mainly clear skies with sea breezes easing near the coast this evening, light winds overnight. Isolated showers about inland Taranaki and Manawatu clear this evening.

Wellington
Some cloud developing this evening with northerly winds, a change to southerlies overnight brings cloud and the odd shower.

Nelson
Sunny spells with northeasterlies easing this evening, light winds overnight. Isolated showers inland clear this evening.

Showers, chance one or two may be heavy this evening then clearing around midnight. Northwesterlies tend south to southeast.
