A ridge lies over the country tonight bringing mainly settled weather, the odd shower remains about the east of the North Island however. High cloud approaches the far south of the South Island as a front moves into the southern Tasman Sea.

Auckland & Northland
Mainly clear about Auckland with south to southeasterly winds easing overnight, temperatures becoming fairly cool. Showers about eastern Northland clear this evening then cloud breaking away to clear skies overnight.

Bay Of Plenty, Waikato & Central North Island
Clear or becoming clear this evening, southeasterly winds ease overnight. Frosty for sheltered inland areas.
Lows tonight: -1-4

Eastern North Island
Mainly cloudy with the odd shower becoming restricted to northern Hawke’s Bay and Gisborne overnight. Cold southerlies.
Low tonight: 5-6

Western North Island
Clear or becoming clear during this evening, southeasterly winds ease overnight.
Lows tonight: 3-4

Wellington
Showers and a few snow flurries to 500m clearing around midnight, strong southerly winds ease overnight.
Lows tonight: 7-8

Nelson
Clear skies with light winds.
Low tonight: 2-3

Marlborough
Clear spells and some cloud, southerly quarter winds die out this evening.
Lows tonight: 1-2

Canterbury
Areas of cloud gradually clearing this evening with southwesterlies dying out.

West Coast
Mainly clear skies with light winds, cloud develops about South Westland overnight however with rain about Fiordland by dawn.

Coastal Otago
Clear skies, high cloud develops later this evening and overnight. Light winds.

Central Otago
High cloud develops overnight, light winds.
Lows tonight: 2-3

Southland
High cloud increasing from this evening, west to northwest breezes.
