Thunderstorms return to both islands of NZ – track live here

> From the WeatherWatch archives

It’s another rumbly day inland across both islands as daytime heating produces thunderstorms and towering clouds with big downpours.

Once again today’s downpours come with the risk of localised severe thunderstorms, hail and flash/surface flooding.

TRACK THE THUNDERSTORMS LIVE HERE

Most exposed to today’s set up will be:

  • NORTH ISLAND: The Central North Island, Taranaki and the ranges of the eastern/lower North Island.
  • SOUTH ISLAND: The ranges/mountains in the upper half of the South Island, and some ranges/mountains as far south as Otago.
