Here’s the general outlook for Sunday and incoming heavy rain for the West Coast.
HEAVY RAIN WEST COAST – SUNDAY / MONDAY
Later on Sunday overnight into Monday expect a front to move northwards over the South Island and with it comes heavy rain and thunderstorms. Overnight there may be some heavy rain for Southland also.
The bonus is warm temperatures in the east, however southwesterlies spread northwards on Monday and these will drop.
WEATHER ON SUNDAY
High pressure brings settled weather to the North Island, northwesterlies further south with a front moving onto the lower South Island.
North Island
A mix of sun and cloud in the west with one or two showers, cloud may be thicker in the morning. Sunny in the east and for Bay Of Plenty. Westerly quarter winds.
South Island
The West Coast has cloud and a few showers, Fiordland has rain with heavy falls. Dry and mostly sunny in the east and about Nelson / Marlborough although there may be some high cloud. Southland sees showers develop in the afternoon, turning to rain in the evening then rain moves into Otago overnight as northwesterlies change southwest.
