FRONTS CLEAR AWAY
A series of fronts clear away to the northeast of the North Island this afternoon, there will be showers this morning and some could even be thundery then clearing away after midday. The eastern North Island has a few showers linger till evening however.
For today’s thunderstorms potential please see Metservice’s risk outlook here.
The South Islands weather is quite nice today but a few early showers Canterbury up through to Nelson clear.
MUSHROOM SEASON
Autumn is a time when fungi starts sprouting up around the country due to lots of moisture on the ground and cool nights, foragers will be out in full force gorging on natures delights.
If you are interested in field mushrooms and perhaps the chance to find some rare delicacies like Porcini mushrooms then take a visit to Peter Langlands (based in Canterbury) facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/forageNZ
Peter runs foraging tours and can help with not just mushrooms but other types of wild foraged foods. Peter has featured on various TV shows including Nadias Farm and Country Calendar. If you contact the Leeston Library he is running a tour starting there on the 6th May, this is for the Selwyn region. Contact the Leeston Library for more on 03 347 2871
I’ve taken a few foraging trips with Peter and he has a vast knowledge, it is always a fun day out.
No paid advertisement here and Pete doesn’t know I’ve written this but for something different I thought it was something people may find interesting, a fun activity to do with the family or friends.
