The forecast given in the paper was totally wrong ie Light SW dying away,(Were Strong All morning and Fresh in the afternoon). It said it was to become Fine lastnight,It Rained instead.Cloud remained virtually all day and the Herald/TV had us for a tropical 25°,it is seldom seen even in high summer during a WSW-SW regime.

I echo that. Met service website and TV forecast had us at 8 degrees overnight and then 25 degrees today.
New Plymouth has small diurnal ranges. 21 (the Monday maximum) down to 8 would be most unlike us! Then to rise a further 17 degrees in a few hours is also very uncommon.
