Temperatures were fairly consistent throughout the North Island today and in the low or mid 20s generally. Gisborne and Kawerau were the warmest in NZ on 28.
Over the South Island it was cooler in the south and west and surprisingly a little rain was falling in the east in some areas but it didn’t stop the temperatures from being near average or slightly above.Milford Sound was the coolest spot in the land on 15 degrees.

There’s a lot of uncertainty north of New Zealand at the moment. We’re definitely at an increased risk over the next 2 months of an ex-tropical cyclone.
Not sure about this one – I think the large high in the Tasman may shunt it off. But we’ve just added a special mention in the Waitangi Day weather forecast re: a possible tropical low coming down around then!
