A front slowly moves northwards over the North Island on Friday, the airflow over the country on a whole is from the northwest. Late afternoon / evening a southwest change makes it’s way through Southland and Otago then into Canterbury overnight.
Mostly cloudy for the west of the North Island tomorrow, the odd shower developing in the afternoon then expect rain about Taranaki late afternoon / evening which moves northwards overnight. Rain about Taranaki is not likely to be torrential, perhaps just heavy for a time. Northland during the day is fairly dry with some sun at times, showers only possible there overnight.
The East Coast of the North Island has thick high cloud, the odd spot of rain possible otherwise mainly dry. Northwesterly breezes.
The West Coast of the South Island is cloudy with showers, perhaps some early rain for Buller then easing, winds from the west or northwest. Marlborough sees any early spots of rain clear then becoming mostly sunny by midday, Canterbury is mainly sunny from early morning.
Southland and Otago may see some morning sun then during the afternoon / evening west to southwest winds freshen bringing a few showers.
