Temps up yet again

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Summer just rolls on for New Zealand and so many comments today about the heat.

On our Facebook page Amanda said – 33.2 according to my weather station in feilding. It was 33.5 before. Wonder if it will reach 34. I hope not!!! Thank goodness its not humid.

Felicity mentioned – My weather station is telling me it hit 27.3 at 9:25, but has cooled to 23.1 now. Maybe the high cloud helped. (Newlands, Wellington).

Carolyn mentioned the dry spells is hurting – Hot, sunny and way too dry in Putaruru. Our huge fish pond is 1.5ft deep and empty, having to fill it again tonight after putting enough water in to save the fish. Here on the farm we are very low in water so critical!

Jerome chimed in with – There’s a war between Taumarunui and Palmerston North for the top temperature its bloody hot in Palmy and even though we got the wind, it aint a cool wind not complaining though.

Comments came in from far and wide including Canada where it’s a smidgen cooler – well it’s Monday night still here and it’s foggy…rainy windy and snowy..I will let you know tomorrow what our Tuesday afternoon is like here in Canada…

Karyn said it’s certainly warm where she is in the Wairarapa – Rural east of Masterton and it’s just hit 30 degrees. After last years dismal effort at summer, this year is more than making up for it! Loving it!!!

West Coasters are also lapping it up – We’re having a stinker in Hokitika – not complaining just advising! Sunny & hot 26 at Lake Kaniere & 27 in Hokitika!!!

Thanks very much for all your comments and summer is getting hotter as the week progresses..

Officially Murchison again was hottest with 32, Palmy 30 and Hamilton 29 as was Levin, Masterton and Alexandra.

What about us poor Northland people who have been suffering gale easterlies which at times are very cool. No hot days here just very dry.
Have had a good amount of sun but not hot.
