Temps on the rise

WeatherWatch.co.nz

> From the WeatherWatch archives

Temperatures have crept into the 20s over many parts of the country this morning, as a warm norwest flow made its presence felt moreso over the South Island.

It’s 26 degrees in Christchurch, with the next 2 or 3 days promising to be in the low 30s.Further north, Gisborne and Masterton are on 23 degrees and Whangarei and Blenheim are close behind on 22.

Greymouth is the coolest centre at the moment on 17 degrees with the promise of rain tomorrow with possibly some heavy falls.

Just how high some thermometers will go in the north and east of the country over the next 48 hours is anybodys guess but UV rays in some areas will be high, even through a veil of high cloud in some regions.

Nice day in east Auckland – sunny and warm, with the weather station recording a high of 25.8 degrees. Went for a refreshing swim at the beach not long ago! Has clouded over now and down to 23.3 degrees. It is clear to our east and to our west – suggesting the cloud is the result of a sea breeze convergence?
