Anticyclonic conditions still reign over New Zealand for the most part tonight however a front is starting to approach from the southwest. Temperatures overnight are mostly normal for the time of year with some spots being a little below normal and others a touch above normal. The northeastern corner of the North Island stays a touch warmer due to cloud cover, any other areas where it shows below normal lows will see clearer skies for the most part.
As a front and westerly airflow ramp up western parts of New Zealand and Southland experience average temperatures for the time of year on Friday, eastern regions are above normal with Marlborough likely to see the warmest highs getting into the mid to late twenties.
