A fairly average night ahead temperature wise for most although a few spots get a little cool where cloud manages to clear away, this is especially true for the Wellington and Wairarapa regions and Southland at the other end of the country.
Cloud persisting in eastern regions leads to cooler than average temperatures tomorrow from coastal Otago up through to Gisborne. Western regions fair better with sun more likely but watch for the risk of late afternoon / evening downpours and thunder about inland North Island areas. When these happen temperatures will drop later in the day due to heavy rain. A few isolated showers may get going for western parts of the South Island also although the risk is lesser than the inner North Island.
