Temperatures are a little cool for the South Island tonight due to a weak area of high pressure and light winds. Average to above average overnight lows for the North Island as a southeast airflow creates a slight foehn affect for some regions just west of the east coast ranges.
Average to below average temperatures for eastern parts of New Zealand on Tuesday due to areas of cloud cover or onshore winds. Conditions are actually a bit wet for the eastern North Island in the morning then shower activity weakens from afternoon. Western regions fair better with warmer than average temperatures for most.
